Regular Dentist Visits Now
Prevent Less Pleasant Visits Later

Schedule A Regular Visit Every 6 Months For A Comprehensive Examination, Cleaning & X-Ray.

Checkup, Cleaning & X-Ray

If you skip regular dentist visits, you’re setting yourself up for much more painful and expensive visits later on. Why? Because brushing and flossing alone doesn't protect against gum disease, tooth decay, and tooth loss.

Tooth and gum issues begin well before you start to feel any pain or discomfort. So If you’re waiting to see the dentist only after experiencing intense or prolonged pain, the damage has already been done.

Unchecked cavities require crowns, root canals or even tooth extractions. Plaque build up can lead to gingivitis and eventually to tooth loss from periodontitis (gum disease).

Spending a little time in the dentist’s chair every 6 months reduces your chance of requiring more invasive and expensive treatments like fillings, root canals, implants, and dentures.

Your dentist is the only one who can detect and treat the warning signs early enough to prevent more serious problems later on.

Dental Hygienists Help Get Your Oral Health On Track

Dental hygienists are often the first Oral Health Professionals to inspect, x-ray and clean your teeth & gums. At Revive Dental our hygienists aren’t “tooth scrapers” but an integral part of the team. For that reason, they may be the first to recognize signs of tooth decay and gum disease. They collaborate with your dentist to help her/him do a better job with diagnosis and treatments. They are trained to focus on your overall wellness and how it relates to your oral health.

Just as important, your hygienist is a gentle and supportive dental professional who helps you through your appointment with friendly and personalized attention.

The Basics Of A Routine Dental Appointment

Examination

Dental examinations not only determine if you have any cavities, plaque build-up, infections, or gum disease, but can also place teeth on “watch”. Watch is the term used when something looks suspicious but isn’t bad enough to warrant treatment.

By going to the dentist regularly, you can fix the habits needed to prevent a suspicious mark from becoming a serious problem later on.

The mouth is referred to as the gateway to your body. It’s often the first place to show warning signs of serious health problems including cardiovascular problems, diabetes, and even certain cancers. For that reason, we go above the usual and customary and routinely perform a full periodontal assessment on all adults. We take detailed measurements of all teeth, gums, tissues and provide a periodontal diagnosis from which our treatment recommendations will be based upon for your therapy & continuing care.

On your first visit, we also take a 3D intraoral scan of your teeth and bite so we can have a digital record of it. This allows us to show you a 3D view of the conditions in your mouth and also provides us the ability to show you changes to your teeth and gums over time.

Dental Cleaning

Your toothbrush & floss is great for daily maintenance but doesn’t remove enough plaque to prevent tooth decay.

Your dentist and hygienist have the tools and techniques needed to clean your teeth and gums on much a deeper level than you can achieve with home tools.

These instruments and techniques allow them to clean right along the gum line, and use special instruments to remove built-up plaque that is difficult to remove on your own

X-Rays

X-rays are recommended at least every 18-24 months but more frequently with patients who are at higher risk for cavities. Of course, when there are symptomatic conditions, x-rays or other imaging may be required to diagnose the problems. They capture an image of your dental profile, identifying potential problem areas such as impacted wisdom teeth, leaking fillings, cracks, or cavities.

Don’t Forget An Appointment For Your Little Ones

Child

It’s equally important to schedule dental examinations for your children at least twice per year. Regular examinations and monitoring during infancy and childhood are critical to ensuring their oral health is on track. Improper oral development in children can cause speech impediments and problems chewing their food.

How Can I Maintain Good Oral Health?

Regular examinations are essential for your oral health, but proper home care is equally important. Here are some hygiene recommendations to follow:

  • Brush your teeth at least twice per day, for 2 minutes per brushing
  • Floss at least once per day
  • Avoid sugary drinks and food
  • Protect yourself with a mouth guard when playing sports
  • Avoid smoking
  • Don’t open cans, bottles, or packaging with your teeth
